Some treasures have travelled a long way before finding their next home. This vintage Amano Traders Pullover is one of those special pieces, carrying the spirit of a time when knitwear was bold, colourful and made to be treasured. πŸ§ΆπŸŒ™

Amano began in 1988, when founders James and Michelle returned from South America with hand-knitted sweaters made by local craftspeople. What started with a little market stall in London grew into a knitwear brand working closely with skilled artisans in Ecuador. The Traders Pullover is part of Amano's archive, with the design dating back to 1993. Its relaxed, boxy silhouette is a lovely example of the brand's distinctive, expressive knitwear style.

This particular vintage piece has had quite a life of its own. It wasn't in the best condition when it found its way to us, so I've carefully mended several holes to give it another chance to be worn and loved. The repairs are part of its story, and the sweater is best suited to someone who appreciates well-loved vintage knitwear with a little history behind it πŸ’œπŸͺ‘

Always check the labels inside your items, most of the time it explains how to take care of your item

Wool & silk can be quite a challenge, but here's some tips from us:

  • Handwash woollen or silk items with cold/luke warm water
  • Some washingmachines have a wool/silk program, make sure to check if it's on a low temperature
  • Don't put wool or silk items in the dryer, they prefer to just dry laying down on a clean towel
  • If your woollen item is not very dirty, just place it outside for a bit. Cold temperatures and windy days are great for getting strange smells out of the item!
